Bunny Hop

Both wheels off the ground in one motion.

Difficulty
Easy
Can you do it?

The lowdown

Both wheels off the ground in one motion. Pull the bars back and up, then push forward over the front and suck your feet up so the back wheel follows.

Fun fact

This is the trick everything else needs. 180s, grinds, barspins and whips are all a bunny hop with something added.

Tips

Learn the front wheel lift on its own first, then add the back end. Hop over a stick or a crack before you go near anything with a real edge.

Why it isn't working4 common mistakes

  1. Yanking the bike up with your arms. Compress, then spring up from your legs and hips; the arms just guide the bars.

  2. Straightening your legs too early. Stay crouched until the front wheel is at its peak, then push the bars forward and scoop.

  3. Front wheel too low before the scoop. Lift the front higher first; the back wheel only follows if the front leads.

  4. Riding with pedals up and down. Set the pedals level before every hop so your feet can scoop together.

Why it's Easy: It has no prerequisite, but it asks for two movements timed together: a front wheel lift, then a forward push and a scoop with the feet. That timing is why it is not Rookie.
