The lowdown

A bunny hop backwards. Your weight goes forward over the front wheel and the back end comes up first.

Fun fact

Nollies teach you to put your weight forward on purpose, which is exactly what nose manuals and front-peg grinds need.

Tips

Start by just lifting the back wheel and setting it straight back down. Keep the lift small until it stops feeling like you are about to go over the bars.

Why it isn't working4 common mistakes

  1. Lifting the back wheel with your arms. Push the bars down and forward, then scoop the pedals up with your feet.

  2. Expecting bunny hop height. Keep it small; a nollie never goes as high as a hop, so aim over a line, not a kerb.

  3. Weight not far enough forward. Lean over the bars until the back wheel wants to lift on its own, before you pop.

  4. Snapping the front down late. Pull the bars up to your body as soon as the back wheel is up, or the front stays planted.

Why it's Easy: It is the bunny hop in reverse, so the hop comes first. The back wheel lifts before the front, which means putting your weight over the bars, the opposite of what the hop taught.
