Double Peg Grind

Hop up so both pegs on one side land on a ledge or rail, then slide along it.

Can you do it?

The lowdown

Hop up so both pegs on one side land on a ledge or rail, then slide along it. The grind every other grind is built from.

Fun fact

Also called a 50-50. Feebles, smiths, icepicks and toothpicks are all this trick with one peg taken away.

Tips

Learn it on a low, waxed ledge long before you go near a rail. Land both pegs at once, stay centred, and ride straight off the end.

Why it isn't working4 common mistakes

  1. Trying it with no pegs fitted. You need a front and a back peg on your grind side before this one works.

  2. One peg landing before the other. Aim both pegs at the edge together, or front peg first with the back following straight away.

  3. Leaning away from the ledge. Bring your body up over the bike and keep it centred above the pegs.

  4. Steering with big bar movements. Adjust your balance with small bar turns; a big one tips you off the side.

Why it's Spicy: The hop is the entry; the new part is holding your weight over two pegs on a narrow edge while you slide. Too far in and they dig, too far out and they drop off.
