The lowdown
A front somersault with straight legs and a fold at the hips, in place of the tuck.
The international code gives the pike an extra 0.1, so a piked front is worth 0.6 against 0.5 for a tucked one.
Tips
Build it from a clean tucked front with the same take-off. A longer shape turns more slowly, so you need more height.
Why it isn't working3 common mistakes
Bending your knees in the pike. Keep your legs straight and fold to at least a right angle at the hips.
Not enough height for the shape. Jump up tall with your arms and chest lifting, since the pike turns slower than a tuck.
Opening out too late. Stretch out before landing, or you keep turning and fall forward.

Where it sits
Why it's Platinum: Platinum because it is the same rotation as the tucked front in a longer, slower shape, so it needs a stronger take-off to get round.
