The lowdown
Rolling backwards. You ride up a quarter pipe or a wall, run out of speed and come back down the way you came without turning round.
Tips
Learn it on a small quarter. Look over your shoulder, stay centred and let the bike roll. Fighting it is what makes it wobble.
Why it isn't working4 common mistakes
Jumping before the front wheel reaches the coping. Ride all the way up and let the bike run out of speed on its own.
Leaning back as you roll down. Lean towards the front tyre on the way down so the bike cannot throw you off the back.
Back-pedalling too fast. Turn the cranks backwards just enough to stay with the bike; too fast and you loop out.
Staring at the front tyre. Look over your shoulder at where you are going and turn your head first, then your shoulders.

Where to practise
Park tricks want bowls and quarter pipes. find spots with a bowl near you →
Where it sits
Why it's Easy: You already drop in, so the ramp is familiar. Riding backwards is the new part, and the bike steers the wrong way until you have felt it a few times.
