The lowdown
Speed without pushing. Sink down through the bottom of a transition and stand tall as it flattens out, and the ramp hands the speed back to you.
Tips
Time it against the shape of the ramp, not against a count. Your legs do the work and the bars stay still.
Why it isn't working4 common mistakes
Standing tall the whole way. Crouch as you go into the transition so you have somewhere to stand up from.
Standing up too late. Start pushing your legs straight as the ramp curves, not once you are already back on the flat.
Pulling on the bars for speed. The push comes from your legs into the deck; pulling the bars just lifts the front wheel.
Stiff knees on the way down. Let your knees bend as the ramp steepens so the scooter stays on the surface.

Where to practise
Park tricks want bowls and quarter pipes. find spots with a bowl near you →
Where it sits
Why it's Rookie: It is the first ramp skill and needs no air, which is why it starts the ladder. The catch is timing: the push only works in the curve of the transition.
