Watch it
The lowdown
Back wheel on the coping, deck hanging over the transition, then commit your weight forward and roll in.
It is the moment a park stops being a set of obstacles you ride around and starts being one you ride.
Tips
Weight over the front, both wheels down together, and go the first time you think about it. Half-committing is what puts riders down.
Why it isn't working4 common mistakes
Learning it on the biggest ramp there. Start on the smallest quarter you can find and move up one ramp at a time.
Nobody watching the first ones. The first drop-ins happen with someone watching from the bottom, because a lean-back fall lands you flat.
Front wheel pushed out into the air. Keep the front wheel close to the coping so it meets the ramp surface, not the flat.
Bars turned as you tip in. Point the bars straight down the ramp and keep them there until you reach the bottom.

Where to practise
Park tricks want bowls and quarter pipes. find spots with a bowl near you →
Where it sits
Why it's Easy: Pumping keeps you inside the ramp. A drop-in starts on the coping and asks you to lean out over the transition, which is the first moment on a ramp you cannot step out of.
