The lowdown

From standing on one leg, bend back to your hands, kick your legs over through a split handstand and step down into a lunge. The body turns right round in one smooth move.

Fun fact

Coaches say you can tell who will do one by looking at their bridge.

Tips

Lead backwards with your fingertips and slide your hips forward as you reach. Lift your front leg as your hands go down and keep a wide split to the finish.

Why it isn't working4 common mistakes

  1. Dropping the head early. Keep your arms glued to your ears as you reach back.

  2. Turning your head to find the floor. Keep your head between your arms and trust the reach.

  3. Shoulders sinking in the bridge. Push the floor away and lift through your shoulders.

  4. Hips twisting in the split. Keep your hips square and squeeze to hold the split aligned.

Why it's Platinum: It needs very open shoulders, good front splits and trust, because you bend back without seeing the floor.
