The lowdown

A jump that shows a shape halfway between a tuck and a pike, with the knees bent and a little apart and the hips folded.

Fun fact

Puck is the name for a shape halfway between a tuck and a pike. The same shape turns up later in somersaults.

Tips

Jump straight first and make the shape near the top. Lift your knees up and a little apart with your hips folded, looser than a full tuck, then open out early so your feet are back under you.

Why it isn't working3 common mistakes

  1. Lifting the knees as you leave the bed. Reach up first; the shape comes at the top of the jump.

  2. Pulling into a full tuck. Leave the knees a little apart and the shape half open; that is what makes it a puck.

  3. Chest dropping forward. Stay upright and bring your knees up to you.

Why it's Bronze: Bronze, because it is a looser, half open tuck and no harder than the tuck jump it sits beside.
