The lowdown
A straight jump that spreads the arms and legs out wide into a star at the top, then closes again to land.
One UK club's moves database lists the star jump as a step towards the straddle jump.
Tips
Jump like a straight jump first with your arms reaching up, and only open into the star near the top. Send your arms and legs out wide at the same moment with everything straight, then snap them back in so your feet are together under you before the bed arrives.
Why it isn't working3 common mistakes
Opening the star off the bed. Reach up first and open at the top of the jump.
Bent arms or knees. Stretch right to your fingers and toes so the star is clear.
Landing with feet still apart. Close your legs on the way down so both feet land together on the cross.

Where it sits
Why it's Bronze: Bronze: one wide shape on a straight bounce with no fold at the hips, so it asks for less than a straddle jump.
