The lowdown
Hold the scooter by the bars with the wheels off the ground, take a step or two, then jump and land with both feet on the deck as it touches down, already rolling. It is a running start that counts as a trick.
It is one of the few tricks that starts with the scooter in your hands and not under your feet.
Tips
Start from a standstill with the scooter a few centimetres up. Put the wheels down flat and land your feet a moment after them, front foot first, with your weight over the middle of the deck.
Why it isn't working4 common mistakes
Throwing the scooter ahead of you. Keep it close beside you and set it down under your hips.
Landing on the tail. Aim both feet at the middle of the deck so the front wheel stays down.
Wheels landing one at a time. Hold the scooter level so both wheels touch down together.
Running too fast at first. One slow step is enough until the jump on feels automatic.

Where it sits
Why it's Rookie: Rookie because the drop is tiny and nothing spins. What is new is leaving the ground without the scooter under you and finding the deck with your feet on the way down.
