Kick Turn on a Ramp
Sign in to mark this one off. Every trick you land is kept, and only you can see it.
The lowdown
Ride up a bank or a small ramp, press the tail and pivot at the top, then roll back down the way you came.
It is what a rider does in their first hour on a ramp, and it works on every transition in the park.
Tips
Look back down the ramp before you turn. Go higher a little at a time rather than aiming for the coping on day one.
Why it isn't working4 common mistakes
Lifting the nose too high. The wheels only need to clear the ramp; a big lift tips you backwards.
Turning with your feet first. Arms, shoulders, then hips; the board follows the turn, it does not start it.
Stopping halfway round. Keep turning until the nose points down the ramp, then set the wheels down.
Frontside before backside. Backside is easier because you can see the ramp; learn that side first.

Where to practise
Park tricks want bowls and quarter pipes. find spots with a bowl near you →
Where it sits
Why it's Rookie: This is the first trick on a slope. On flat a kick turn can stall; on a ramp you slow down as you climb and must turn before you stop.
