The lowdown
From a cast, come back to the high bar and circle backwards round it with your hips touching, finishing in front support. It is one of the first circles most gymnasts learn.
Keeping your hips on the bar is the whole difference from a clear hip circle, where they never touch it.
Tips
Drop your shoulders back as your hips meet the bar and stay hollow the whole way round. Pulling your toes towards your nose starts the turn.
Why it isn't working4 common mistakes
Throwing the head back. Keep your head neutral and let your shoulders lead the drop.
Piking to rush round. Hold your hollow and let the fall bring you back round.
Hips leaving the bar. Keep your hips or upper thighs on the bar for the whole circle.
Stopping before the finish. Keep the circle moving and push up to a straight-arm support.

Where it sits
Why it's Gold: It is the first time you rotate round the bar on your own. It needs a decent cast and the nerve to lean back, but the hips stay on the bar.
