The lowdown
From a crouch, put your hands down, tuck your head in and roll over your back to stand up again. It is one of the first moves in gymnastics.
Rolls also teach you to fall safely, which is one reason they come first in every scheme.
Tips
Lift your bottom high as the roll begins and keep your chin on your chest. Reach forward with straight arms and press your feet into the floor to stand without your hands.
Why it isn't working4 common mistakes
Rolling on the top of your head. Keep your hips high so the back of your head touches first.
Losing the tuck as you roll over. Keep your feet tucked into your bottom and your back rounded.
Knees dropping to the floor at the start. Start from a squat on your feet, never from your knees.
Putting hands behind you to stand up. Reach your arms forward and lean your chest over your feet.

Where it sits
Why it's Bronze: It is the base of all forward rolling. Rolling over is easy; standing up without the hands on flat floor is the part that takes practice.
