The lowdown
From a squat, roll backwards over your shoulders, push with your hands and land on your feet. Your arms have to push your hips over your head.
The arm push is the hard part, so coaches have children carry pretend pizzas or trays on their hands to get the hand position right.
Tips
Keep a rounded back and your elbows tucked in, with hands by your ears. Push hard through your hands when your hips are over your head and aim your feet at the floor.
Why it isn't working4 common mistakes
Legs straightening too early. Stay tucked until your hips are directly over your head.
Feet heading up instead of back. Point your feet behind you towards the floor, not the ceiling.
Not pushing with your arms. Press your palms flat and push the floor away to lift your head.
Feet landing far from your hands. Bring your knees in close so your feet land near your hands.

Where it sits
Why it's Silver: Unlike the forward roll, your arms must push your whole body over your head, and that takes real strength in the backs of the arms.
