Tips
Kick with your front foot and keep the bars dead still. Spot the grip tape coming back round before you stamp down.
Why it isn't working4 common mistakes
Kicking before you have left the ground. Hop first, then kick; the deck needs clear air underneath it to spin.
A soft kick that stalls halfway. Kick through the deck with your whole lower leg so it comes all the way round.
Feet too far forward on the deck. Stand with your front foot near the middle so your kick has room to swing.
Landing with straight legs. Bend your knees as the deck comes under you so the landing does not jar.

Where to practise

Where it sits
Why it's Spicy: The bunny hop only asks you to leave the ground. A tailwhip asks you to send the deck round a full turn while you hang above it, then time both feet onto a moving target.
