Watch it
The lowdown
Turn the board sideways at speed so all four wheels skid across the ground, scrubbing off speed until you straighten out again.
It is how skaters stop on a hill without stepping off, and it wears a flat patch on your wheels doing it.
Tips
You need real speed for the wheels to break loose. Going too slow is why it grips. Crouch and push the board out with your heels.
Why it isn't working4 common mistakes
Standing tall as you turn. Get low before you throw the board sideways; height tips you over the wheels.
Leaning into the direction of travel. Keep your weight slightly behind the slide so the wheels skid rather than grip.
Turning only the board. Turn your shoulders and hips with it, or the board turns and you do not.
Straightening up too late. Bring the nose back round as the speed drops, before the wheels grip again.

Where to practise
Flat tricks want smooth flat ground. find spots with flat near you →
Where it sits
Why it's Easy: Easy rather than Rookie because for the first time the wheels have to stop gripping. That needs real speed and a committed sideways push, and a half-hearted one grips and throws you.
