Bunny Jump on Beam

With your hands on the beam in front of your feet, you spring both feet up and land them back on the beam.

Difficulty
Bronze
Can you do it?

The lowdown

With your hands on the beam in front of your feet, you spring both feet up and land them back on the beam. On a bench you can travel along it this way.

Fun fact

Coaches use the static bunny jump on the beam as the first step towards a handstand on it.

Tips

Place your hands in a butterfly shape, about half an arm's length in front of your feet. Pause for a moment at the top before the feet come back.

Why it isn't working3 common mistakes

  1. Barely lifting the feet. Start on a bench or floor beam and aim to bring your knees level with your hips.

  2. Jumping higher than your arms can hold. Build the height slowly; a jump your arms cannot hold makes them collapse forward.

  3. Feet landing somewhere new. Bring your feet back to the same place, side by side or one just behind the other.

Why it's Bronze: On a bench or floor beam it is a first-weeks move. On the high beam it needs more arm strength, and coaches support the first tries there.
